The Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation recently opened a 27-acre lot to new development in the Wamego Industrial Park. The site is currently zoned for heavy industrial use.
Now that the road has been extended and water, sewer and electric infrastructure has been added, the site could get certified with the Kansas Department of Commerce.
“We are now able to market it as shovel ready and ready for investment,” said PCEDC Executive Director Jack Allston. “We’re excited to see what new opportunities this eastern side of the industrial park will bring for our region.”
The Wamego Industrial Park has easy access to both U.S. Highway 24 and Kansas Highway 99, which connects Wamego to U.S. Interstate 70 along a beautiful 10-mile corridor. Highway 99 is currently being reconstructed and realigned to allow easier travel for large trucks and other equipment. That project should be complete in summer 2022. By August of 2022, a truck by pass around the city of Wamego will also be completed that will be a direct connection for trucks from Highway 24 to Highway 99.
